Ryan Garcia posted on X today that he “Can’t wait” Tell fans who he will fight next. He said fans couldn’t say he was in a “weak fight,” which was a signal that he wouldn’t get a rematch with Devin Haney next because fans would consider that fight a weak fight.
De La Hoya’s influence
Many believe that a potential opponent Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) could face next is one of the following fighters:
——Teofimo Lopez
– Vasily Lomachenko
Of the two, Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) will be the most likely, as Golden Boy Promotions owner Oscar De La Hoya says he wants him to be the next replacement Ryan’s people. Teofimo also attended the Ring Awards party in London and met Turki Al-Sheikh. This is an easy fight as Teo has no opponent and he is in the same division as Ryan at 140 points.
Teofimo still holds the WBO light welterweight title and is one of the most popular fighters in the division. That would be a great fight and the promotion would be huge as Teo could help generate interest from the fans. It’s not just Ryan doing all the hard work, like he was when he fought Devin Haney.
Kingry and Haney will likely fight again in 2025, assuming Devin and Bill don’t try to dictate to Ryan, act like they are the A-side, and insist that Ryan agree to VADA testing. Even though last April’s fight was one-sided, boxing fans are still interested in a second fight between them.
avoid mud
If you were Garcia, you’d be better off cutting it off with Haney and walking away for good. If he does fight him, he’ll likely ruin the promotion by reminding fans and the media that Kingery tested positive for Ostarin in his last fight. Devin will probably mention it so often that Ryan’s name will be Drag through mud Many times when the fight is over. There would be no victory because his reputation would be tarnished.
complete break
If fans thought Garcia was a drug cheat because Haney told them over and over again that he was dirty in previous fights, then they wouldn’t come forward. Ryan’s fight with Devin isn’t going to be worth it in the long run. It would be nice if Haney didn’t continue to talk about Garcia’s positive test, but he already talked about it extensively during an interview last week during training in London.
I can’t wait for you guys to see who I’m fighting👀👀
One thing you can’t say about me is that I never fight a weak fight
Only one person is really doing it
