Hummel’s launch of Greenland’s new home kit caused such a stir that the red jersey, heavily influenced by the island nation’s heritage, quickly sold out.
Another run is in production, but now also comes a stunning away shirt born from the landscape and harsh environment he wants to represent.
The icy blue shirt is inspired by the Greenland Ice Sheet, which covers 80% of the land mass and is the second largest body of ice in the world – behind only Antarctica.
The enduring power of ice is the main theme of the projection, linked to the unbreakable force that is the Greenland national spirit.
“It is part of who we are as a people: steadfast, resilient and with a heart deeply rooted in our land and cultural heritage,” said Kenneth Kleist, chairman of the Football Federation of Greenland (KAK).
“The new away kit captures that strength and unity, serving as a reminder of the pride we take both as individuals and as a team. Whether it’s the roar of the stadium crowd or the silence of the glaciers, our pride remains unwavering.”
Greenland itself, its heritage and values played a large part in producing Hummel For the home shirt and attention to detail has also gone into creating a remarkable away jersey. The design is influenced by the intricate natural patterns of ice shapes, with textured graphics celebrating the power of ice and details on the sleeves paying homage to traditional Greenlandic clothing.
“The ice sheet is a reminder of the strength and endurance it takes to endure in one of the world’s harshest environments,” explained Hummel’s Marketing Director Morton Lund.
“Our goal was to capture that story in a design that resonates with both the team and the people of Greenland. It’s a symbol of unity – both with each other and with the land that shaped them, and we hope the players will wear it. Pride.”
