The founder of Info Edge, Sanjeev Bikhhandani, in a place on X, revealed how the labyrinth of India quietly shapes the behavior of the startup. “If you are broken and you are starting in the fourth quarter, do the job, but incorporate on April 1,” he wrote, framing it as a lifestyle of “Concianceananda Swami”.
The goal? Delay income tax files and audit rates for a whole year: a small pirate in a system where each rupee matters. It is a movement as old as the uncertain directions with many Indians they grew up, and as relevant today as it was when Naukri.com came quietly online a few weeks before April 1, 1997, he wrote.
Bikhhandani’s publication was not just paperwork pirates. It was also a walk through Memory Lane, and a tribute to the curious coincidence that April 1 is the day of launch for some of the most lasting technology companies in India.
“Naukri launched on April 1, 1997,” he wrote. “Indiamart was launched a year earlier on April 1, 1996 and Makeemytrip three years later on April 1, 2000 if I remember correctly. It’s the twenty -i -fifth anniversary of Makeemytrip -Congratulations (sic).”
He added: “It’s like the old days you didn’t know the actual date of birth. You took the date of birth as your father said to school when he admitted. The official date of birth of my father was May 2, 1926. However, he estimated that his real date would have been 18 months earlier.”
The publication caused a wave of reactions from the Startup watchmen and the veterans of the Internet.
“All 3 categories creators and survived for more than two decades and prosperous is a rare feat in itself (sic),” a user said.
Another said, “On April 1st, National Starting Day should be held in this case. Interesting (sic).”
Others celebrated the impact of long -term companies: “Congratulations Naukri, Makeemytrip and Indiamarty have traveled a long way to make a mark on the India Internet industry (SIC).”
“The on -line companies’ survival rate launched on April 1 is very high (sic),” another added.
Bikhchandani himself also was admired. “You are a Johari teacher to collect jewelry,” a user said, referring to his first bets on Zomato, Makeemytrip and Policlybazar. “Master of creating technology companies … as you constantly did it would be good to know.
