Arsenal striker Leandro Trossard admits his side need to be perfect in their pursuit of the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners are currently four points behind league leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand. In the last game, Arsenal drew 1-1 with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Brighton, and finally defeated Brighton 2-0.
Top-ranked Liverpool has also yet to win a league game since the beginning of the year, drawing consecutive draws with Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. However, Trossard believes the league’s increasing competitiveness means Arsenal need to be at their best to remain competitive.
“You need perfection every season,” Trossard said sky sports.
“It’s been a very tight competition over the last four or five seasons. Everybody’s competing, not just the teams at the top, but every season everybody’s getting better, so it’s become more competitive. fierce.
“You have to be on your (A) game every game day. It’s hard, but we just have to continue to believe and be ourselves and then we can achieve something.”
Arsenal’s bid for the title this season has not been helped by a growing injury list in the forward area.
This week it was confirmed that Gabriel Jesus has suffered an ACL injury and will be sidelined along with Bukayo Saka. Despite missing the offense, Trossard said he’s ready to fill in if needed.
“Injuries are a big blow for us. We know what Bukayo (Saka) has shown for the club and Gabriel Jesus is in great form, these injuries are just bad luck. We hope we can be ready at the same time. It’s up to us to be ready.
“Due to injuries, we had to change some things so that everyone had a chance. Of course, I’m always happy (to fill in up front). I’m always ready to play in any position on the field.”
Arsenal retained the threat from set pieces and independent attacks, becoming the team that made the most effective use of corner kicks. Their corner-kick prowess has prompted criticism from some onlookers that the Gunners rely too heavily on set-pieces. For Trossard, Arsenal is about more than just set pieces.
“That’s the part of the game we’re really good at,” he told us sky sports.
“We want to be the best at everything, including set-pieces. We’ve shown consistency over the last few years and that’s where you can decide the game. It’s an important part of our game, but it’s not the only part.
“We can also score from aerial battles. I don’t think there is an over-reliance on corner kicks. The outside view would be that because we score a lot of goals, but we don’t have it in our hearts to say we can only score from set-pieces, which is just one of the ways we win the game. Extra Tools.
“I think everyone in the league would want that. We’re very happy about it and obviously we could have scored more but at the end of the day when you get a win in the Premier League you need to be happy.”
