Liverpool have confirmed that last month’s canceled Merseyside derby has been rescheduled for Wednesday 12 February.
The Reds were scheduled to make the short trip to Everton in early December, just for this one Adjournment fixture Merseyside Police advised against non-essential travel following severe weather warnings.
Both sides are working with a game on their opponents but when will things be tied next month Liverpool Again a trip to Goodison Park a stone’s throw away.
It will almost certainly be the final Merseyside derby at Goodison, as well Everton Bramley-Moore are set to move into their new stadium at Dock at the end of the season. The only exception to this is if both sides win their respective FA Cup fourth round fixtures and subsequently draw together.
Crucially, this fixture date is subject to Liverpool’s Champions League performance as it falls on the same date as the knockout play-off round. The Reds are currently top of the table and need just one point from their remaining two fixtures to guarantee automatic qualification for the last 16, which will almost certainly come given their dominant position in the standings.
Liverpool also sit top of the Premier League, having opened up an impressive lead over the likes of Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Chelsea despite having played a game less than those around them.
Everton, meanwhile, have Just welcomed David Moyes back to the dugout As they climb away from the relegation zone. Toffee is currently a point clear at the time of the announcement.
