Manchester City cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a commanding 8-0 win over League Two Salford City at the Etihad.
Salford-born James McAtee scored a first senior hat-trick as City’s side avoided a huge cup upset with a ruthless performance that will be a welcome confidence boost for Pep Guardiola and his players.
The outstanding Jeremy Docu scored a brace, while Jack Grealish, Nico O’Reilly and debutant Divine Mbama completed the Premier League champions’ way to continue their impressive start to 2025.

Elsewhere, top-of-the-Championship Leeds United edged past League Two strugglers Harrogate Town at Elland Road.
The game remained goalless at half-time but Largy Ramzani found the net with a header just before the hour mark for Daniel Farke’s side to progress to the next round.
The all-Championship contest between Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday went all the way to penalties after the sides could not be separated over 120-minutes.
Liam Kitching gave Frank Lampard’s side a 26-minute lead and held on to the lead until second-half stoppage time.
However, Wednesday’s Anthony Musaba equalized with 93-minutes on the clock to send the game into extra time.
Neither team could find a winner during the extra half hour and so the tie was decided by a shootout, which Coventry won 4–3.
