Manchester United crisis ‘not OK’, says frustrated captain Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes says the current malaise at Manchester United is “not OK” and any player who thinks so should move on.

United suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton yesterday, their sixth defeat in their last nine league games, after head coach Ruben Amorim admitted it was perhaps the “worst team in Manchester United’s history”.

Amorim’s side were again rudderless and captain Fernandes is demanding the players to settle quickly and quickly.

He told Sky Sports: “I understand the outside perspective. But we can’t be comfortable thinking this is okay. It is not.

“I’m not here to lose games and stay in the position we are in now. But I know there’s nobody in that dressing room and if there is, it can’t be here.

Brighton’s win continued their dominance over United. The Seagulls have now won six of their last seven meetings including all three at Old Trafford, not that it was interesting to Portugal midfielder Fernandes.

He added: “It doesn’t matter to me. That’s our second loss. It doesn’t matter how many times they win against us.

“I remember in the past they didn’t win a single game here. It won’t change anything.

“The main thing that’s changing for us is that we didn’t get the three points today. Congratulations to them, they played well and deservedly won the game.”

United have a chance to bounce back on Thursday night when they host Rangers in the Europa League. Their next league game comes at Fulham next Sunday.
