Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl will be eliminated again in the short term due to lower damage.

Draisaitl seems to have aggravated the same damage he had dealt with before, suffering against Utah on March 18. He quits in stage 2 with a 3-2 victory in San Jose on Thursday night but does not return.

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch provided an update at Draisaitl on Friday. Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared Knoblauch’s comment on Draisaitl’s injury status on X (formerly Twitter).

“EDM coach Kris Knoblauch said Leon Draisaitl’s identity is “short term” because he is not worried about his playoff preparations,” Friedman wrote.

Knoblauch said,

“The lower body. Nor do he believe this will make the playoffs. We think he will be back before that, so we’re not too worried, especially with Leon’s pain tolerance and what he’s played before. But he’ll miss it for a while.”

Leon Draisaitl is in the final season of an eight-year, $680 million contract signed in 2017. His newly signed eight-year, $112,000,000 extension is for the 2025-26 campaign.

Leon Draisaitl is expected to return before the playoffs

Despite the injury, it is expected that Leon Draisaitl will return to the Edmonton Oilers roster as soon as possible instead of later.

Oiler’s Playback Voice by Jack Michaels shared the news on X.

Dresel has been on the 71 games this season with 106 points (52 goals and 54 assists).

The Oilers will act against La Kings without Draisaitl or McDavid on Saturday afternoon. Hockey drops at 4 p.m. ET at crypto.com arena.
