Saim Ayub long-term absence from cricket

Pakistan national cricket team batsman Syam Ayub has been in the news in recent days, mainly due to the injury he sustained during the Test series against South Africa. The young batsman suffered an ankle injury which ruled him out of the second game.

Saim Ayub was injured while trying to save a boundary, spraining his ankle and being taken off. The opening batsman looked in agony and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) then sent the batsman to London for a detailed medical evaluation, especially with the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy around the corner.

Saim Ayub consulted renowned London specialist Dr. Jeyaseelan, who advised the batsman to rest for six months to fully recover.

Assistant coach Azhar Mahmood went with Ayub to consult renowned expert Dr. Jeyaseelan. Specialists assessed the young batsman and later confirmed that the injury was stable. The batter can carefully place weight on the injured ankle.

Syam Ayoub’s injury is serious and the batsman has confirmed a fracture. But on the positive side, it didn’t cause any long-term damage to the batsmen. According to ARY News, Dr Jeyasiran has advised the batsman to rest for six months to allow for full recovery.

Saim Ayub to consult with expert panel in London

Ayub will consult with a panel of experts in London. He will also have some additional tests, including X-rays, to finalize his treatment plan. But if the PCB adopts Dr. Jeyaseelan’s suggestion, the batsman will be excluded from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

However, PCB has not yet given any official statement. Although the batsman’s inclusion in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 remains uncertain, the governing body will decide on his inclusion in the squad based on further medical review and evaluation.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi takes personal interest in ‘valuable asset’ Saim Ayub’s injury

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi took a personal interest in Ayub’s injury. He has been ensuring that the young batsmen get proper treatment. He called the batsman a “valuable asset” and said they would provide him with all necessary resources for his recovery.

Syam Ayub’s absence will leave a huge void in the Pakistan national cricket team as the opening batsman has been in good form. During the recent ODI series against South Africa, he had been experiencing purple patches on his bat due to which he slammed two tons with it.

Ayub scored 14 runs in the first inning and 27 in the second inning. But if he is unable to play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 now, it will be a huge blow to the Pakistan national cricket team.
