It’s a new year, and Samsung is gearing up for a slate of new phones. The company’s winter Unpacked event is scheduled for January 22, and we’re looking forward to the reveal of Galaxy S25as well as updates to Galaxy AI.

Samsung sent out invitations for the event in early January, teasing what’s to come. Here’s everything to know about the upcoming keynote, including how to tune in and how save on your S25 preorder.

How to watch Samsung Unpacked 2025

Samsung Unpacked happens Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 10 am PT (1 pm ET). It will be held in San Jose, but you can also catch a live stream on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom and Samsung’s YouTube channel. CNET will also host a live show, where you can follow along with our experts.

Samsung usually hosts Unpacked twice a year: once in January or February, where it reveals the latest Galaxy S lineup, and also in the summer, when it debuts the next version of it foldables. Last year, it hosted it July Unpacked event in Parisbefore the Summer Olympics, and revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. There are also, not surprisingly, a huge focus on Galaxy AI.

What can we expect from the Galaxy S25?

We expect three tools: the baseline Galaxy S25the S25 Plus and the S25 Ultra. All three devices could have a more rounded design, similar to Google’s Pixel phones, according to the leaker Universe of ice.

Korean site Hankyung also reported that all three Galaxy S25 devices operated by THE Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. There is also hope that all phones will support Qi2 wireless charging. Additionally, analyst Ross Young shared a list of reported colors for the latest Galaxy S line, which includes silver, blue, and mint.

The S25 Ultra is rumored to have a 6.9-inch display and a new 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, according to many drops.

There are rumors floating around about a slimmer version of the S25, with a tipster flag an entry for the Galaxy S25 Slim on Geekbench. This is in line with the rumors about a thinner version of the iPhone that could drop later this year, but it’s unclear if or when either of these devices will be available. If the Galaxy S25 Slim is the true, maybe it will be a long time before we see it in the real world.

And finally, there are conflicting rumors as to whether the S25 series will cost the same as last year’s lineup or get a price hike, so we’ll have to see what’s in store.

What’s next for Galaxy AI?

One of the key focuses of Samsung’s January Unpacked invite is, not surprisingly, AI.

The company says, “The next evolution of Galaxy AI is coming and it will change the way you interact with the world every day. .”

Samsung says that the next iteration of Galaxy AI will be more natural and intuitive, and that the latest Galaxy S series will once again rely on advances in mobile AI. This may include an update to Bixby virtual assistantespecially in light of Apple supercharging Siri to talk more and help users.

AI is a key focus of every major phone manufacturer, from Samsung on Apple on Googlein the last few years. From helping users draft text messages to summarizing emails to simplifying photo editing, these companies are promoting mobile AI as a way to make your life easier. So far, the improvements have come with a lukewarm reception, as the August 2024 CNET survey found that a quarter of smartphone owners. will not find the AI ​​features helpful. That could change as phone makers continue to tweak their offerings to better suit people’s preferences, and as consumers get used to the proliferation of AI-powered features in their devices.

Will there be other hardware — or surprises?

If there’s one thing about a tech event, that’s it FOR the most part some kind of surprise or tease of the upcoming launch. After all, last year’s January Unpacked event where we first look at Galaxy Ringwhich finally came out in July. It is possible that we will get a glimpse of the next generation of the device, with upgrades such as more accurate sensors and longer battery life. But with how new the ring is, we’ll probably have to wait before the next version is available.

Mixed reality may also make an appearance. Samsung revealed it Project Moohan headset in December, which the company plans to launch later this year. So it’s possible we’ll get an update on where things stand there.

Ahead of this year’s January Unpacked event, Samsung is offering customers a $50 credit toward the latest Galaxy device during preorders.
