Sean Dyche sacked by Everton

Everton have confirmed they have sacked manager Sean Dyche just hours before their FA Cup third round clash with Peterborough.

Dyche, who joined in January 2023, has managed just three wins from 19 games this season with Everton just one point clear of the relegation zone.

He recently admitted that the results fell short of expectations and acknowledged that his position was rightly under threat.

“To be clear, it should be,” he said. “At the end of the day, if you’re a business of this size, and this club, a succession plan should definitely be part of their due diligence.

“You’ve got to win games, we haven’t won enough this season, you’ve got to make sure the team is doing the right thing, you’ve got to try and make everybody happy all the time. That’s the job, and we did that a lot of times. No, and it comes to me, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Dyche leaves the coaching staff with Ian Vaughan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer.

Everton The search for a new manager has begun but, in the meantime, the Under-18s will hand over first-team duties to manager Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman, who will take charge of the Toffees in Thursday’s FA Cup clash with Peterborough.
