Security, competitiveness, Trump: Will 2025 be a turning point for Europe?




2025 looks like a year full of danger for the European Union. Even before US President-elect Donald Trump returns to office, his unpredictability is on full display as he has told NATO ally Denmark that he needs Greenland for US national security purposes – prompting a strong rebuke from France, which says the E.U. will not tolerate threats to its borders. And that’s before Trump even started on well-known tough issues like trade tariffs, Ukraine and NATO.
