San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said SWAT officers arrived on the scene after all the officers were shot by the suspect.

The suspect was later found dead in an apartment on the city’s North Side after an hours-long standoff. McManus said it was unclear whether the suspect died from a self-inflicted wound or was shot by SWAT officers.

The unidentified suspect had three people arrested “Two were charged with assault and one was charged with drink driving,” McManus told reporters at the scene early Thursday morning, January 18.

The suspect was out on bond when the officer-involved shooting occurred at the Santra Heights apartment complex. 18700 block of Stone Oak Avenue, the police said.

The incident occurred just before 9pm on Wednesday night. KABB FOX 29 in San Antonio reports.

“When I went out, I saw a SAPD officer shot,” apartment building resident Joseph Loredo told local television. “It looked like a leg injury because they put a tourniquet on him and dragged him away.”

He said he captured video of the shootout between police and the suspect.

The police chief described the suspect as a man in his 40s and said the original caller to police was a family member.
