Past examples of team owners’ involvement in team affairs
This isn’t the first time franchise owners have been criticized for meddling in team affairs. Lucknow Supergiants owner Sanjiv Goenka was criticized for having a rude conversation with captain KL Rahul after their loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024.
After the match, Goenka and Rahul had a lively discussion, with the owner visibly frustrated and venting his emotions in front of public cameras. The discussion became a hot topic in the tournament and Goenka was heavily criticized for dealing with the country’s cricketers in this manner.
