Starbucks’ top independent director Mellody Hobson to step down By Reuters


(Reuters) – Coffee giant Starbucks (NASDAQ: ) said on Thursday that Mellody Hobson, the company’s top independent board director, is leaving.

Hobson previously served as chairman of the board from March 2021 to September 2024 and has been with the company for nearly two decades.

“In two decades, I have never sold a share of Starbucks and plan to remain a strong investor,” Hobson said in a letter to shareholders.

He assumed the role of lead independent director alongside CEO Brian Niccol in September last year.
