Meta’s Threads is internally prototyping the ability to add music to posts, the company confirmed to TechCrunch. The option to add music to posts is already available on other social apps on Meta, Instagram and Facebook. It seems the company is now thinking about bringing over the Threads feature, its X competitor.
The feature has not been tested publicly and was first spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzziwhich often finds unreleased features while they are still being developed.
The option to add music to posts will be a welcome addition for people who want to add a little color to their posts and show their taste in music, because it will remind you of the MySpace era. However, not everyone can be a fan of posts with music, because it can be distracting.
As with other internal prototypes, it is unknown if or when Meta plans to launch the feature.
TechCrunch reported last week that Threads too internal prototyping the ability to set a display name and add a cover image to profiles. The new features will bring Threads’ user experience more in line with its competitors, including X and Bluesky.
