Verizon Raises Prices for Customers With Multiple Lines and Older Plans

Two weeks into the new year, Verizon plans to raise prices on some of its plans. Those affected include select plans with five or more lines as well as those still using the discontinued New Verizon Plan options.

While this planned price increase may not affect most of the Verizon users, it still reduces affordability for customers who are trying to keep prices low. In February, customers with existing myPlan accounts with five or more lines will see a monthly $3 per line increase in their bill as early as February 20, as Droid Life first reported.

Also, customers locked into Verizon’s discontinued New Plans of any size S, M, L, XL and XXL will see their individual phone lines go up by $4 per line every month. Those with multi-phone line accounts will have rates increase by $15 per month, while data overage fees will also increase from $15 to $20 per gigabyte, according to a Verizon’s support page.

“We can confirm that we have changed the price of some mobile plans for selected customers,” the carrier said in a statement. “Verizon is committed to delivering unmatched network reliability, experiences and choices that our customers love and expect.

Verizon has increased one of its ancillary monthly feesthe Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge, up from 20 cents per line last month, to $3.50 per voice line for phones, or $1.60 per data line for tablets and hotspots.

Carriers have increased prices on various plans and fees over the past year. In January 2024, AT&T increased unlimited plans for 99 cents per linefollowed by Verizon is raising prices for some old unlimited plans in March and T-Mobile upping rates on old plans in June. The latter two efforts by Verizon and T-Mobile include messaging to encourage those with older plans to upgrade to current ones.
