Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Blue Jays agree to $500 million contract: Report | Baseball News

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr reportedly signed a $500 million contract renewal to stay with the club.

According to multiple media reports, the Toronto Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero JR have agreed to sign a 14-year, $500 million contract extension.

The deal reportedly leaked on Sunday, including no deferred money, making it the second most valuable contract for the profession, surpassing only in the 15-year, 15-year deal with Juan Soto, which was concluded in December.

Guerrero is the fourth-time All-Star and MVP runner-up in 2021 and will be a free agent at the end of the season. By locking him now, Toronto avoids the risk of a huge bidding war in the open market.

Over his career, the 260-year-old has 160 home runs, 511 RBI (or running) and an average hit average of 829 games. Last season, he hit 30 home runs with a .323/.396/.544 batting line and drove with 103 RBIs.

In 10 games this season, Guerrero reached .256 without home runs and 4 RBIs.
