What Altai Bayandir did for the Man Utd squad after their FA Cup heroics were revealed


Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayandir took his team-mates to a celebratory dinner following their heroic penalty shootout defeat of Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.

Bayandir ended that record by spreading to his left, clearing the ball before a brilliant point-blank save from Declan Rice took the game into extra time. A penalty shootout was eventually needed to separate the two rivals, Bayandir again heroically saving Kai Havertz’s effort.

“We all congratulated him because he did an amazing job. We are all proud of him,” Onana commented. “He’s been here for a year and a half or more, and he works hard every day. Now he’s getting his reward. He deserves it.

“He invited us to the restaurant (after the game) because he did so well. Hopefully, he will invite us more and more, because that means he will continue to play like this!”

Bayandir had made just four appearances for United before his Sunday heroics, with three of those appearances coming in this season’s Carabao Cup. However, United have been linked with signing a new goalkeeper – Parma’s £40m-rated Zion Suzuki Supposedly in the crosshairs of the club.
